Victor Oshimen scored his Third hat-trick for Nigeria against its neighbour Benin Republic 3 – 1 on Tuesday night in Uyo. This was an historic match which made them one step away from qualifying for their 7th world cup in USA.
The match which was played at the Godswill Obot Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, saw Nigeria dominate from start to finish. Oshimen open the scoring in the early 3rd minute after receiving a perfect assist from Samuel Chukwueze. The Galatasaray striker scored another goal in the 37th minutes again with an assist from same Samuel Chukwueze. The first half ended with the score line of 2-0 in favour of the Super Eagles flying higher than the Cheetah of Benin Republic.
The second half started with a substitute from the head coach changing Chuwueze replacing him with Olusegun O. This changes brought a positive impact to the club making
Oshimen to score his 3rd hat-trick for Nigeria at the 51st minute from an assist from Moses Simon. At this stage the Cheetah was weak making way for Nigeria to substitute its best players, introducing Onyeka F. which he closed the scoring for us at the 90+1 minutes to secure Nigeria 4 – 0 that was needed for them to qualify.
M0ost Nigerians were not jubilating as South Africa in the same group has won their match making Nigeria stands in number 2 of the group c with 17 point same with Benin Republic but advance above Benin Republic using 7 goals advantage but South Africa qualified automatically with 18 point in the same group.
